Alaskan Malamutes: Health

Alaskan Malamutes can be prone to hip dysplasia and eye issues.

Alaskan Malamutes can be housed in areas which are warm however their thick coat makes them not suited to areas of frequent hot weather. As with any dog living in a hot area - drinks and a place out the way of the sun should be provided. This way your dog will be more comfortable. Do consider if it is fair to raise a malamute if your climate is predominantly hot.
